WoW players will have the chance to take on Deathwing in the next patch to be released from Blizzard.
German site Gamona.de managed to get an interview with Tom Chilton (Lead Game Developer) and Chris Robinson (Lead Art Director) whilst at Gamescom, where details of the new patch were unvailed
4 Main points to arise from this interview are outlined below:
- 3 New 5 Man Dungeons
- Deathwing Raid
- Cosmetic Armor
- An Armor closet / Void Storage (To free up bank space)
Cosmetic Armor
The most interesting point to arise from this is the introduction of “cosmetic armor” this basically means the player has the ability to pick the armor they like the look of best and combine it with the armor that has the highest stats.
This will stop high level players all looking very similar when they are wearing the same “best in slot gear” and will utilise armor sets that were created but people no longer use.
The reason this hasn’t been introduced before is because it changes how Blizzard views their game, It used to be that high level characters looked like high level characters. It was a point of distinction, but as more and more players have topped out it’s become sort of the opposite and too many players look the same, said Tom Chilton.
It seems quite obvious that this is an addition that will mean alot more character variation throughout the game.
Void Storage
This is a new 100-150 slot storage option, this is to free up bank space however there is a downside, anything stored within the Void Storage is stripped of its enchantments, gems and the name of the person who crafted it, this is only due to technical reasons and it would not be possible otherwise
All in all this patch looks to be one of the most important in the games history, with the addition of things players have been wanting for years.
This will be the last patch with raid additions for Cataclysm but it is not the last patch for this expansion, but they are not releasing details of that at the minute.

And with that… Scram gets immunity until last hour of LAN.
With the majority of visitors (on my site at least) being american, it’s best to cater for them :]
Armour Steve, or are you going all american on us? about time characters armour looks could be customized without detriment to stats.
