FingerSports First Birthday!

A whole year has gone by, we have seen some pretty good times, a roundup of what has happened since this time last year:

The website:

eSports section is finally up and running and seeing some good use,

The forums are carrying on as always, our userbase grows steadily,

We have had 227700 odd visits since November 2009 on the website,

We average around 550 page views a day on the site and forums,

Our steam group has 154 Members now and is constantly growing,

Facebook is stagnant (…unless someone wants to volunteer to update it?)

The Twitter page has started increasing in popularity in-line with the eSports news, we average 3 new

followers a day at the moment on Twitter.

Our screenshots section has seen some good use scramadon. Keep these coming in.

Clans:

We have seen some good clans come and go, we have made some good friends and a lot of the “folded” clans still hang around in one form or another to visit or just mess around on vent with us. We are starting to build a nice environment covering quite a few different games.

Servers:

The servers have been terrible, we will be changing host in January after a short period without servers around Christmas, in the new year we will be with a new server company and get some more support. Perhaps we can finally build some decent pubs?

Members:

Alty has discovered the forums recently, I think this is a milestone we can all celebrate extensively, I did write to the Tories asking about a possible National Holiday to cover this monuments event however I am still waiting for a reply, they are probably just busy taking away benefits from disabled people.

I wont mention any names because I am likely to leave someone out and upset them, thanks to all our members who have helped out over the last 12 months, keeping the servers up, keeping vent void of muppets and to everyone who has been constantly insulting Zee for the last 6 months or so, its been a blast!

Out of interest I doubt most of you know about our screening process for joining clans, just taking a look at my mailbox briefly I can tell you that over 60 clans have applied for sponsorship and only 5 have been accepted, we dont just take anyone.

Ventrillo:

We have laughed so hard on vent that Thrashed threw up (A few times?), Ace had to take two days away from his computer and Para lost his eyesight. We have had amazing poetry readings, people taking literal poo’s on microphones and even more poor judgement, there is simply too much to mention.

Its been excellent.

Games:

I started to list the game names here, I got bored around the 50 mark.. basically we have played a lot of games this year, some of them have been for a few hours and some of them we played to death. Honorable mentions:

Css, Minecraft, MW2, BC2, DOD, Black Ops, HoN, EvE Online. And of course that flash game I made in 3 minutes with Ace in a ninja outfit versus Silent’s forehead.

5 Lans:

Four excellent i-events. What happens at lan stays at lan. Genetic also had a good run early this year in London, its a pity they didnt stick it out. Dukes saw his first event with us and has now bought a season ticket for next year – hardcore.

If I missed anything worth mentioning let me know.. its been fantastic considering this is just the internets and we are all just gaming geeks. Roll on another year, I have some good plans for the community and as soon as I have run everything past Alty (because as you all know… he does everything around here) we will be looking at sponsorships, night cups and more site features to increase our popularity.

As always we stay focused on only “recruiting” the right people, I think we have done pretty well to expel those that dont fit in, standards will stay high even if it means we grow more slowly.
