Just last week, Sony Online Entertainment made the move to use the free-to-play business model for DC Universe Online. Within the span of two days, over 120,000 registrations were made.
It is reported that as of today, over 1 million subscribers have registered according to SOE. Prior to this, DCUO had imposed a monthly subscription fee but for those who did opt to pay for the game need not worry as they are automatically granted Premium access, one of two paid subscriptions that offer benefits and features that free accounts will miss out. The Premium account will enjoy additional character and inventory slots, and a higher cash limit, while still able to purchase DLC packs, additional character slots and more in-game. The Legendary account however, has access to all DLC packs for free, more than 16 character slots, over 60 inventory slots, and are able to form Leagues.
