Apple Ipad Review – Gaming Perspective

Without the means to review the ipad here at FingerSports ourselves (not entirely sure its worth the purchase yet) I scoured the internet looking for a review that wasnt written by a fanboy and was written with gaming in mind.

Apple claims that the ipad will “Revolutionise portable gaming”, they are however masters of positive spin and basically own the pedegree for selling smartly packaged components at higher prices. The iPad however is different, its taking a new-opensource view on portable gaming and does warrent at least your attention.

So, I found this Aussie review which will open your eyes slightly should you wish it to. Its short and sweet should hopefully answer a few questions.

When you break it all down.. its just an iphone which is bigger and cant make phone calls. This is a really nifty attempt at recycling already successful technology, they need to add multitasking and some other unique features to set this aside and it will be fantastic.

Just to throw this out there.. A tablet PC with a touch screen is not new technology, its been done with windows for years..

I’m struggling with why you’d want one of these over an iphone… Lack of 3G connectivity seems to be a crippling mistake, or a simple way to sell more next year when they inevitably ‘upgrade’ it.
Maybe I’m just not sure of its niche, I mean it’s more portable than a laptop but not portable enough to carry everywhere (unless you’re a manbag man).
It’s going to have some great apps, but then so does the iphone. It’s going to be nifty and easy to show off, but that will ware thin after a few months. Remember when having an iphone was different? See what I mean.
I can see it being a great toy to have in the living room, for when you can’t be arsed to get up and having a laptop on the sofa doesn’t fit your chi.
This device will be made by its users, if a great use is carved for it with apps and all, I’m sure apple can make it work. Scratch your heads and we’ll see.
